Rebuilding U.S. Midstream Capacity for Critical Minerals

The U.S. is working to close a decades-long gap in the mineral supply chain. As outlined in the Atlantic Council’s new issue brief, the problem isn’t geology, it’s the lack of midstream capacity: refining, processing, and logistics.

M2i Global is not a mining company. Our focus is on restoring the core infrastructure required to convert raw material into secure, reliable inputs for defense, clean energy, and high-tech systems.

Today, the U.S. has only one operating bauxite refiner and four aluminum smelters. That’s not enough to meet rising demand for critical materials like copper and gallium. Most midstream capacity was offshored decades ago. M2i Global is working to change that.

We’re building a portfolio of U.S.-based processing and remediation projects, with a model rooted in secure sourcing, sustainability, and strategic partnerships. Our work is designed to strengthen mineral readiness and reestablish American control over essential supply chains.
