M2i Global is proud to announce a major step forward in its international expansion and strategic focus on clean energy materials: a partnership with Next Gen Energy to develop Australia’s first lithium NCA cathode manufacturing facility.
As covered by Proactive Investors, this joint initiative marks a breakthrough in the effort to localize high-value battery material production in Australia—one of the world’s most critical regions for lithium resources.
M2i Global CEO Alberto Rosende emphasized the importance of this partnership and its global implications:
“This partnership will help us solidify the first NCA cathode plant in Australia, and we believe it will be one of the first to be operating in the Western world,” Rosende said.
The facility will produce nickel cobalt aluminum oxide (NCA) cathodes, a key component in high-performance lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems. Until now, most of the world’s NCA cathodes have been manufactured in China and South Korea—leaving supply chains vulnerable to geopolitical tensions.
By investing in localized, transparent, and ethical production capabilities, M2i and Next Gen are working to shift that dynamic, supporting energy independence and advanced manufacturing in the Indo-Pacific region.
As the article notes, the partnership leverages M2i’s global reach and technological expertise alongside Next Gen’s operational presence and strategic vision in Australia. Together, the companies are laying the groundwork for a resilient battery supply chain that supports both environmental sustainability and regional economic growth.
